Easter Break 😊

We had a lovely last day at school today learning about and watching the story of Jesus' death and ressurection.

We hope everyone has a great Easter break relaxing with their families.

What do you do to celebrate Easter?
What have you been doing for fun these holidays?

Great work Cooper!

Cooper blew us all away today with his fantastic persuasive text on why homework should be banned. Miss Gamage was so impressed with his use of emotive and persuasive language. Well done Cooper!

Easter Egg Hunting

In celebration of a fantastic start to the year in developing effective work habits, grade 3/4 were treated to an Easter Egg Hunt. This required students to apply their map making skills and co-ordinate their team to collect all the hidden treasures from around the paddock.

In small groups students mapped out the paddock from a birdseye view and predicted where they might find the most eggs.
Then the students were set free in search of their rewards!

Overall the Grade 3/4 community showed fantastic attention to detail and teamwork skills while completing their Egg Hunt.

Do you think these newly found map making skills can be used over the upcoming break, and how?

Week 9 Stars of the Week

Well done to our Week 9 stars of Term One. Axel, Leena and Mark have all been displaying our Corpus Christi Values to work well this last week.

Bullying NO WAY Day

As part of our Bullying NO WAY day activities we explored the meaning of bullying and how it is different to fighting and arguing.  We also examined our school values and through drama showed how they are or are not present in different situations.

Here is what we found.

How do you use our school values to solve your problems?
How can you tell the difference between bullying and fighting when you are in the heat of the moment?

Ways to get to Corpus Christi

Today we worked hard on using directional language to figure out ways to get to Corpus Christi.  How do you get to school?

We used the Active Paths for Ride to School to describe different ways to walk to school.
It was important that we remembered which way was left and right, north, south, east and west.  It was also important to give landmarks to add more detail to our instructions.

Our picture shows our instructions for one way to get to school.
Do you think you could get to school using our instructions?

Mapping and Instructions

Maths is always a great chance to get outside and enjoy something different! The grade 3/4 community were able to show off their mapping and directional language during the day. They were able to guide a blindfolded partner effectively around our garden space using only their voices and clear instructions.

Makes you wonder, what are the important aspects of giving good instructions?

What would you be?

In a world where we could be anything, we would be...

What would you be?

Our Body, Our Mind

Solve the mystery, who does this belong to?
A few weeks ago before our blog was set up 3/4C created a slideshow collage showing things we can do for a healthy body and a healthy mind.

What do you do to have a healthy body and mind?

CROSS COUNTRY TRIALS

Carl and Reuben went to Hansen Reserve today for the cross country trials. It was really hard but they had lots of fun in the sun. Reuben came tenth and Carl came in just after him.

We are so proud of their persistence in completing the race and the way they represented our school.

Fantastic effort boys!

Wellbeing

We have been learning about hurt feelings and hurt bodies. Today we focused on using positive self talk through drama. Positive self talk is saying or thinking something which makes you feel better rather than something which makes you feel bad. Did you know more than 70% of what we say is self talk. It's very important that we speak as positively to ourselves as we can.

Well done Natalie, Ariam, Amy and Stephanie for your fantastic play which explained positive self talk so well.

Positive Thoughts

Fantastic work from 3/4Z today, who are learning to identify positive mindsets and self talk.
Great work from Cameron, Xavier and Max for their very entertaining demonstrations of positive attitudes in action.

BIG DAY OUT

Today was a very fun day because we went to celebrate Mass and play games with all the schools in our Parish. Lots of us met our friends there and Brendan caught up with his cousin.  It was super hot but we made sure we had plenty of water to drink and applied sunscreen!
Check out our BIG DAY OUT photos below:
