Coding Club Games!

In Coding Club today we learnt how to make a game.  We also learnt new words to add to our coding vocabulary. They are:

Event - When something happens that causes something else to happen.
Conditional - You have to meet the condition to be able to do it. e.g. You need a VISA to move to Australia.
Debugging - When you reread your algorithm or program to edit and fix the mistakes (like in writing!)

We made some games and challenged ourselves to make them for specific year levels.  Test our games and give us feedback using our form below. We hope you enjoy them!!

All you need to do is click to play.

Positive Thinking

In Wellbeing we have been exploring the power of positive thinking! We always have a choice regarding how we can respond to different situations or problems that we are faced with in our lives. Whilst it might not always be easy to think positively we should strive to uphold a positive mindset and attitude for bettering ourselves.
Here is a funny clip which we viewed in our lesson which helps illustrates the choice we have in responding to different situations by using positive thinking. Enjoy!

Measurement Madness

As part of our learning on measurement we have been exploring using informal units of measurement.  The community listened to the story "How Long is a Foot?" then used this idea to measure objects around the classrooms.

The video and some photos are below!
Ask us about the problems the king faced and how he over came them.
Also as us about the importance of using a uniform unit of measurement.

3/4C St John Visit

Today St John's Ambulance are visiting Coprus Christi. Here is what 3/4C learnt today.

You should always look for danger!!

This is how to check if someone is  unconscious.
1. Call out their name.
2. Pinch their shoulders REALLY hard.

There was no response so Daniela called the ambulance.

This is how you remember the number! '000'

Next check for breathing. Normal breathing is 2-4 breaths in 10 seconds.

Finally we learnt about the recovery position. You can even do this with adults. Siobhan proved it by moving Miss Mauric into the recovery position.

Can we practice on you tonight?

Thanks for reading!

St John's First Aid Visit!

Today St John's First Aid Service came to visit us to show us how to respond to an emergency, including dealing with someone who is unconscious. We learnt about the steps for First Aid which include:
D- Danger
R- Response
S- Send for help
A- Airway
B- Breathing
C- CPR
D- Defibrillator

After we discussed these steps, we were given the opportunity to practise making the recovering position with a partner.

Knowing the steps of First Aid are SO important as they can potentially save someone's life!
Did you know that 8 children were responsible for saving one of their parent's lives last year? Amazing!

Here are some photos of us taking within the First Aid session:
