Victory for the Boys!

Today in Inquiry students worked in groups to complete an Olympic quiz. The questions weren't easy but these boys came out as the champions scoring 10/15 questions correctly. Well done boys! Talk the time to ask your child about some facts which they learnt about Olympics today as I'm sure you will be fascinated by them.

Mother Mary

Today in RE we learnt about the importance of Mother Mary and explored ways in which she demonstrates gifts of the Holy Spirit. Here are Emma and Zoe with their beautiful artworks they created of Mary. Well done girls!

Treat Others How You Would Like to be Treated

Today in circle time we discussed what it means to be kind, loving and considerate towards others.
We explored examples of bullying/non bullying behaviours and the need to respect everyone as equally important.   In groups, students worked together to create a profile of a person who possesses qualities of a kind hearted individual. We should all strive to be the best version of ourselves and remember to always treat others how we would like to be treated. :)

Learning Expo!

Wow! Yesterday's Learning Expo has left the 3/4 Community inspired, full of new knowledge and impressed. Here's what the students had to say!

"At 3:30pm yesterday we began our Learning Expo.  Loads of parents and other school members came, including students who had left the school! Everybody who came was so interested in our products and they had a great time learning about our inventions.  People were excited to invest their pretend coins because there were so many unique inventions which may just be inventions of the future!

One thing we found challenging was drawing people in to come and look at our inventions. But then sometimes we had so much business that it was hard to keep track of how many tokens we had! Some peoples questions were difficult to answer because they asked how long it took or why we invented our products and we just weren’t sure what to say! Sometimes we didn’t know how to start our presentations.

Some things we are wondering about next time are:
  1. I wonder if we made any profit?
  2. I wonder how we can make it even better?
  3. I wonder if anyone would actually use our product?
  4. I wonder if we could make our responses even more detailed or descriptive?
  5. I wonder why people chose to invest in different products?

Week One Stars!

Congratulations to our Week One STARS   of Term 3. Well done on your efforts and acheivements so far this term!

WELCOME BACK TO TERM 3!

Welcome back everyone to a new and exciting term!

Students in Year 3/4 have already got off to a flying start and we are so impressed with their growing responsibility in the space.

Term 3 will be filled with lots of learning, excitement and special activities, including Book Week, Multicultural/Olympics Day, Father's Day Breakfast and a special excursion. Students will find out more about this during the weeks to come!

In Term 3,  homework will be sent home each Monday and is expected to be returned on the following Friday.  Homework activities will cover a range of subjects including reading, writing, spelling and mathematics.

In addition to this all, on Tuesday the 19th of July (from 3:30-5:00pmwe will be hosting our Learning Expo.  All students are encouraged to remain at school as they will be showcasing their original and unique inventions which they worked hard to produce as part of our Term 2 Inquiry Unit.  There will also be a range of special activities e.g. sporting clinic, glee club performance and opportunities to visit other classrooms to see what is going on.

We look forward to your ongoing participation and involvement throughout the term.

Place Value!

Yesterday some students from 3/4 extended their ideas on 6 digit values - that's right, numbers in the hundreds of thousands (some of us even made 7 digit values!).

First we made our numbers then we silently ordered them. We had numbers ranging from 2,000,000 to 1000!
